On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association, it is my privilege to announce our newest acquisition:
Canadian Car & Foundry Harvard Mk 4
RCAF serial no. 20436
Acquired from Bill Lamon in Eugene, Oregon, this Harvard has been kept airworthy, hangared and flown regularly for 20 + years by Mr. Lamon who is an ex-Canadian NATO Trainee from Belgium. A unique point to note is that in his service years, Mr. Lamon had flown our 20242 (WPK) and 20321 (UFZ).
In recent years, 20436 has been part of the Canadian Air Force Heritage Flight. (see CHAA’s 2008 Calendar – April); it is an honourary member of “the big 2” (#2 CFFTS, 15 Wing) in Moose Jaw, SK and in its service years, was part of the Goldilocks Aerobatic Team (see the book “Harvard” page 142).
Some Particulars of 436
Total time airframe: 8577.2 hours
Total time, engine since overhaul: 925.5 hours
Propeller, total time since overhaul: 288.9 hours (4 years +/- remaining on corrosion inspection)
Number 217 of 276 built by C.C.F. in Fort William (Thunder Bay), ON.
Served RCAF Stn Moose Jaw, RCAF Stn Penhold and 6th Depot, Trenton.
The aircraft is clean inside and out, flies straight and true and has been maintained to RCAF standards.
It is in CHAA’s mandate “to acquire”, but the ability for CHAA to successfully take on another aircraft is due to the efforts of all of the members of CHAA!
Thank you for providing CHAA with that ability.
Sincerely,
Greg Burnard
