Saturday, May 23 --- Members Flyday & Doors Open Oxford
The sun shone all day and we welcomed visitors to our hangars. Several members took backseat rides and many hundreds more (almost 500) toured our hangars, watched demonstrations, enjoyed a BBQ lunch, bought items from Stores, read through our archival materials, watched a slide presentation on CHAA and learned more than they thought was possible about Harvards, Tiger Moths and Yales!

Saturday, June 13 --- Members Flyday
Again the weather cooperated and we had another truly successful flyday. Our day started with the arrival of local Veterans and other Legion members. A bagpiper led them in as they marched on colors. The solemn Legion program was followed by a CHAA Service of Remembrance in which we were honoring Veterans, friends and family members we have lost. Our president, Ray Whittemore, welcomed those in attendance and a Harvard Hawk, Jesse Van Parys, read a poem he has written. This was followed by the reading of the names of those were remembering in this service. A formation of four CHAA Harvards did the missing man flypast in honor of all those we have lost. The piper played Amazing Grace and lead off the Color Party and Veterans. (Jesse’s poems will be listed on our website soon... be watching for this addition) (A separate article will include the names and information listed in our June 13th Service of Remembrance.)
Thank you to all those who helped to make this day a success: the crew who made certain the planes were ready to fly on Saturday, those who came early to help get the Harvards from the hangars and onto the apron, those who cleaned and set up the hangars, those who brought extra tables, those who attended the Service, those who sold Stores merchandise and 50/50 tickets, those who booked people into backseats, gave tours and interesting demonstrations, the crew who instructed members on backseat/parachute etc information, the pilots who flew for CHAA all day , the members who came to see the planes fly and learn more about CHAA and a special thank you to those who stayed to the bitter end to help with all the cleanup and putting the planes to bed.

Sunday, June 14, 2009 – Owen Sound Airport
CHAA pilots, Bill Shepard and Allan Paige flew 2 Harvards up to the Owen SoundAirport for a car show and flyin. Ray Whittemore drove up to help sell CHAA Stores merchandise and to help book backseat rides. Everyone in attendance was excited to see our Harvards and to learn more about CHAA. The weather cooperated as we displayed and demonstrated our Harvards and several new members went for backseat rides.

Saturday, July 25 --- Members Flyday
& Celebration of 100 Years of Powered Flight in Canada--- 0900hrs – 1600hrs
2009 is the 100th Year of Powered Flight in Canada starting with the Flight of the Silver Dart in Baddeck Nova Scotia in 1909. CHAA has posters, DVDs, slide shows on this topic and more. Come for a Harvard backseat ride and learn more about Canada’s aviation history. Plan to stay for lunch, take a tour, watch a demonstration and a video, chat with old friends and make a few new ones.
