--At our November members Meeting, Jennifer Tyrell, widow of Greg Tyrell, announced the gift to CHAA of Harvard 20304. As you can imagine, it was an emotional day and the membership is truly touched by Greg and Family’s gift to us. Greg had planned to restore the plane himself, but fate had other plans and we lost him one year ago to cancer.
--In this month’s issue of the ROAR, look for Ray Healey’s write-up which gives the background on this gift and the way Greg’s plan has come together.
--On Saturday December 5 Shane Clayton, along with his Dad Carl and Uncle Alfred, brought 304 home to Tillsonburg where the restoration work will begin in earnest.
To begin the documentation of this process for our archives:

A Gift Certificate for a backseat ride and/or a CHAA Membership make great Christmas presents!
--Again this year gift certificates for memberships and backseat rides have been very popular.
--As of today I am not accepting requests for gift certificates for Christmas that have to be mailed as the mail at this time of year is too unpredictable.
--If anyone wishes a certificate and can come to my house to pick up there is still time.
--Gift Certificates can also be e-mailed and a follow-up letter will be sent.
NOW is the time to renew your 2010 membership.
--A MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL form and return, addressed envelop was included for all general members and Harvard Hawks in the last edition of the ROAR.
--If you receive your ROAR electronically, please print the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION/RENEWAL form and send with your payment to CHAA’s address (stated above). Please mark this: Attention Membership.
--Included in the ROAR is the form to fill in and submit if you wish a CHAA name badge.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

2009 is ending on a high note for CHAA publicity and advertising.
--Radio commercials and newspaper articles raised our profile and created a great deal of interest in CHAA.
--Tourism Oxford helped us with a half-page, full-colour ad in their tourist guide. It will be renewed for 2010.
--As well, we had space on their website as well as the opportunity to distribute CHAA information with press releases.
--They will be participating in a large motorcycle show in January and will be publicizing motorcycle touring in Oxford region.
--CHAA will have an insert in a brochure they will be distributing.
--There were numerous inquiries on the airport answering machine throughout the year.
--A fall radio commercial recognition program on Heart FM in Woodstock has resulted in numerous people asking about our 2010 program as well as many prepaid backseat rides.
--A special thanks to Jeff Tribe of Tillsonburg News for his many feature articles on CHAA. Our relationship with the paper will continue with Jeff writing several CHAA feature articles during 2010 beginning with our recent acquisition of Greg Tyrell's Harvard.
Planning for our 2010 events is well underway.
--Newspapers and radio station have been contacted and interest has been expressed by them in attending one or more of our Fly Days. --Displays and vendors are being organized.
--Cephas Panschow from The Town of Tillsonburg will be working closely with us to ensure we have adequate parking for all our events, especially our big 25th Anniversary Day in August.
--I want to thank the volunteers who have come forward to assist with the events. Their assistance is vital to our flydays.
--I'm looking forward to a great season in 2010.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

--The first week of December our committee sent out the annual Mailout Fundraiser. Fifteen days later, we have raised $7910.00 in donations for CHAA! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
--If you had intended to support this fundraiser and haven’t done so to date, all donations posted by the end of December will be part of your 2009 tax receipts; those donations posted in January and beyond will be part of your 2010 tax receipt.
--If you didn’t receive a copy of this Mailout Fundraiser, it will be printed in the December ROAR.
--The names of those who have donated toward this fundraiser (and allowed their name to be published) are posted at: http://harvards.com/content/view/208/40 If your name should be there and isn’t, please contact Sandra and this will be corrected.
--Once again, a sincere “thank you” to all those who show their CHAA spirit by donating to the yearly Mailout Fundraiser.
Request for Items from the Time of the BCATP
Thursday, December 17 marks the 70th Anniversary of the signing of The British Commonwealth Air Training Plan agreement. This is timely, as CHAA is seeking items from the time of the BCATP. These archival items will be catalogued and placed on immediate display with a future plan for use in our educational program geared to Grade 10 students. If you have any of these pieces of our history and wish to donate them to CHAA, or have further questions on this, please contact Shane Clayton
