Welcome to the January 2010 edition of Harvard Happenings --- our 81st month of sharing CHAA Happenings with the membership through email. As we enter 2010, we celebrate our 25th year as an Association and we thank you for your continued interest, support and involvement in CHAA. This is shaping up to be a busy year for CHAA and we encourage all members to become involved in whatever way they are able.
NEXT MEMBERS MEETING: Tillsonburg on Saturday, January 16 at 1000hrs
All are welcome and encouraged to attend these monthly members meetings.
MEMBERS MONTHLY MEETING DATES:
Through the winter months, our monthly meetings are held on Saturdays from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs: January 16, February 20 and March 20 (annual business meeting). In April, we return to the third Tuesday of each month and a start time of 1930 hrs: Tuesday, April 20.

This very valuable CHAA Fundraiser continues into 2010 and we are thankful for all the folks who work at these Bingos to bring in necessary funds for CHAA. Contact Torben if you are able to volunteer one evening every few weeks. Mark the upcoming Bingo dates on your calendar: January 17, February 3, March 5 April 9, May 27, June 3, July 8, August 26 & September 25 A Bingo night runs from 5 – 10pm. Show your CHAA support ---- call Torben and volunteer.

Happy New Year from Membership and it is going to be a very good year for CHAA. 2009 ended on a very positive note - 881 Life, General and Harvard Hawk members. To those who have already sent in your 2010 renewal - THANK YOU. In the first 12 days of 2010, seven new applications have been received - off to a good start as the winter months are usually the slowest for new members.
A reminder if you have not renewed your membership has expired and, if I have not heard from you by March 1, your name will be removed from all lists. Contact Marion if you have any questions regarding membership.

The first week of December, our committee sent out our annual Mailout Fundraiser . To date we have raised $15, 245.00 and donations are still being received. Thank you so much to those members who are showing their CHAA support in this manner; it is truly appreciated. For those people that are web savvy you can now find CHAA and our Dive Team on Facebook.
We encourage our members to join and participate in discussions on what’s going on in the aviation world and to give opinions and suggestions on how we can improve our organization.
CANTIRE COUPONS: we are collecting Canadian Tire money to use toward purchase of necessary tools and equipment for our airplanes. If you have any extra coupons you’d like to donate, drop them into the bins at the hangar or mail them to us at our address above (attention Bill Ritchie). Thanks!
As always, our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, recently been ill or had surgery. Please know we hold you in our hearts, now and always, and wish you better days ahead. Congratulations to Sean and Rhonda Voskamp on the birth of their first son, Willem, born on December 18. Sean was CHAA’s youngest pilot to check out on a Harvard --- perhaps Will might follow in his footsteps. Birthday wishes to CHAA member Ken Arnott who earlier this week turned 75 – still going strong and he’s ¾ of a century old!
