ADMIN OFFICER REPORT: Roy Venn This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  519-842-3813

group bookings: CHAA has conducted three tours through its facilities over the past month involving 76 people of all ages. There are more tours scheduled in the next few months (May 12 and 19, August 11 and during Doors Open Oxford on September 8 and 9 to name a few); if there is anyone out there who would be interested in acting as a tour guide please contact Roy at info above.

SPECIAL FLYOVER: On Saturday May 5, 2007 CHAA Harvards performed a fly-over in honour of Reverend Father Mike Dalton, OBE, on the occasion of his 105th birthday! Father Mike was a front line Padre during World War II and currently resides at the Caressant-Care Nursing Home in Courtland, Ontario. The staff at the Nursing Home reported Fr. Mike brightened right up and had a sparkle in his eye. Thanks to the crews (air and ground) for bringing this together on short notice and doing such an excellent job.

IN THE ADMIN CENTRE: We are in the process of cataloguing some books and about sixty assorted, flight related videos. The hope is to have them all listed in the computer and a process in place by the June Members Briefing for members to sign them out and take them home to view and/or read. The books were a donation from long time member Ray Bennell. The videos came to us from the Tillsonburg Public Library who had received them as a donation. The library felt they were geared to a limited audience and were looking for a good home for them. Marion and Ray Bennell have graciously donated a computer system to the Administration Centre which will aid in the completion of a number of projects around the hangar including tracking the work being done on MTX.

SECURITY: Everyone is asked to take note: on a number of occasions the CHAA properties have been found to be left unlocked...including the flight ops room, the admin centre and the restoration areas. Please ensure all lights are turned off and doors are locked before you leave. In Flight Operations and the Admin Centre, turn off the individual heater circuit breakers and in the lunch room set the thermostat back. Remember this is your Association; therefore your money is being wasted when the heat and lights are left and it is your property lost if it is stolen. Thank you for your cooperation.

Another quiet month for membership, but May is shaping up to be a lot busier.

Thanks to member Doug Burnard, 4 new members had a Harvard ride on Sunday, May 6.  Each year Doug donates rides to his Rotary Club's silent auction.  On a warm, sunny day these winners plus several others were taken aloft for their flights.  Thanks to Doug for promoting CHAA every year in this manner.

RECENT TOUR GROUPS: Membership distributed brochures to a group of 28 from 427 Wing and Royal London Military Institute on May 8 when they toured CHAA's facilities while on a day long tour which also included the Marine Museum in Port Burwell, the wind farms between Port Burwell and the Sand Hills, a boat cruise in Port Dover and the Harbour Museum in Port Dover.  The group included several RCAF veterans who were most impressed with CHAA.
WINGS & WHEELS AIRSHOW: June 23 and 24 - St. Thomas Airport  http://www.wingsnwheels.ca/index.html This airshow will feature not only vintage and present day aircraft, but also a number of antique cars and military vehicles.  Gates open daily at 9 am.  The airshow flies at 1 pm.  The closing act of the show is Canada's Snowbirds.  CHAA will be there with aircraft and stores.  Hope to see you there.

For many years, several CHAA members have been attending the Geneseo Airshow (grass strip, friendly people, up-close and personal with all the planes and pilots, runs July 13-15, 2007 and where Norm Beckham is known as “Mr. Harvard”) and wanted to share the excitement with others. To accomplish this, a group has been formed within CHAA to arrange a bus trip to this 2007 Airshow.

-Date of Trip: Saturday, July 14, 2007

-Date of firm commitment: June 22, 2007 (we MUST HAVE 47 passengers to be a go)

-Cost: $100 per person for the round-trip, same-day bus trip...to be paid at time of booking. (Route and stops to be determined by passenger list)....includes cost of bus, admission to airshow and steak dinner

-Each passenger is responsible for ensuring they have the proper photo ID for presentation at the border and their own insurance coverage.

-For all 2007 Geneseo Airshow details: http://1941hag.org/files_airshow/airshow2007.html

IF INTERESTED: book early! Email or call Maureen today (info above) with your name, number of people in your party and your payment method.
