Group Tours 2008

Recent Hangar Tour
On Monday August 11, we welcomed a large group of children from two groups in Tillsonburg. One group was the Tillsonburg Children's Centre and the other group was The Ontario Early Years. I was out early and opened up everything, and in the process of walking in the dark in hangar two I walked into the pitot tube on one of the planes and cut my lip open!
My help arrived and I would like to give a great big thank you to Len Fallowfield, Brandon Zimmerman, Robert Trowell and Kip Davis and last but certainly not least my wife Kresta who was out there to help as well.
The kids all converged on the airport at 10am and after touring the control building and hangars on the other side, they converged on CHAA and it was our turn. We all took groups and showed them the restoration area, then onto the LINK where Brandon got to give many kids a try at flying the link. Then it was off to hangar one where we showed them around, then up onto the aircraft parked outside. After everyone had a close-up look at and in the plane, they went onto the table where my wife was handing out stickers, Timbits and a colouring page of a HARVARD. Then it was off to hangar two where they got to see the Tiger Moth and the rest of the planes inside. By the many smiling faces we all saw, it was a huge success.
The numbers were: 94 children and 36 adults for a total of 130 people!
Thank Alycia Stier from the Ontario Early Years Program and Heather Brazier from The Tillsonburg Children Center for organizing this from their end and allowing us this opportunity to show everyone our great organization! Thanks also to Vern Flemming and his wife for showing up and offering his assistance.

Let’s hope we can keep this up for many years, as these children are the future of our group!
