– Membership Up-to-Date? : Tracy Reddy tracyreddy@yahoo.com

Presently, CHAA sends out Harvard Happenings through a Gmail account. In the next month or so, we will be transferring over to a program called MailChimp. In prep for this, we are updating email information on this site. This means we will be deleting all emails of those who have not renewed their membership…which could be quite a few of you. If you are unsure of the status of your CHAA Membership, please contact Membership Chair Tracy Reddy and she will be pleased to be of assistance.  Thanks!

– June’s ROAR of the HARVARD: Terry Scott t_scott@harvards.com

Deadline for all submissions is May 28.

– Update re CHAA’s 2017 Smoke Oil GoFundMe Campaign:

Michael Lawrence mlawrence4457@hotmail.com

It is now time to announce our barrel of smoke oil is ordered and on its way!  One would think that starting the process way back in February would have been time enough to ensure delivery by May, but alas, through the vagaries of product availability verification, inaccurately advertised pricing, hidden charges that only appeared on the official quote and some degree of miscommunication, it took until mid-April to achieve a firm and paid order from this particular supplier.  Rest assured, should we do this again, a different arrangement will be made.  We should (fingers crossed) see our barrel arrive in time for our June Flyday and certainly in time for display flying later this season. Once again, a huge “THANK YOU” to all who participated in our fundraiser, either by donating or cheering us on and by helping to spread the word.  It’s thanks to you that our Harvards will stand out against the blue Southern Ontario sky while we listen to that wonderful “Roar”.

Linda Brimson linda.brimson@yahoo.com

Linda is looking into the possibility of putting a book together on the history of CHAA! Quite an undertaking and we applaud her for her interest and enthusiasm for this project.  She needs CHAA PHOTOS (dated from 1985 to today) to add to the book which will be sold on its completion. CHAA photographers (and yes, we know you are out there) are asked to contact her and she will take it from there. Thanks!

– CHAA’S AIRCRAFT RECOVERY TEAM: Walt Irie walther.irie@gmail.com

Walt spoke recently at the Dunnville District Heritage Association’s meeting in connection with Harvard 2963, lost of June 19, 1943 from No. 6 Service Flying Training School in Dunnville. https://www.sachem.ca/news-story/7270276-recovering-plane-lost-in-lake-erie-over-70-years-ago/
